Billiga bärbara speldatorer är kända för tråkiga utseenden, billig plast och tjocka profiler. Asus Zephyrus G GA502GU har finjusterats för att balansera spelprestandan med utseendet på ett bättre sätt än kanske någon annan bärbar speldator i det här prisskiktet tidigare har gjort. Området runt 10.000 kronor är fyllt av instegssystem som Acer Nitro 5, MSI GF/GP-serierna, Dell G5, Walmart Overpowered 15 och HP Pavilion Gaming som alla kommer med GTX 1050 Ti-, GTX 1060- eller GTX 1650-grafik. GA502GU presterar bättre än alla dessa alternativ med sin mer kapabla GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q GPU samtidigt som den har en tunnare, mer energieffektiv och lyxigare design till nästan samma pris.
En del nedskärningar behövde göras för att kunna erbjuda både ett förstklassigt utseende och prestanda till ett överkomligt pris: Skärmen är mörkare än på de flesta modeller, färgomfånget är smalt, ghosting syns tydligare, båda M.2 2280 NVMe-platserna använder halv hastighet, den saknar webbkamera och G-Sync och basmodellen har bara 8 GB enkelkanals-RAM. I värsta fall kommer dessa begränsningar bara förta kärnupplevelsen av spel i 1080p en aning och RAM går som tur är lätt att utöka. Förhoppningsvis kommer framtida revideringar att åtgärda fläktljudet så det blir tystare när man spelar.
Ett flaggskeppsutseende med spelprestanda från mittenskiktet till ett budgetpris. Med hjälp av Ryzen har Asus höjt standarden för hur en billig spellaptop bör se ut, kännas och prestera vid jämförelse med den uppsjö av billiga bärbara speldatorer med Intel Core i5 som finns på marknaden.
