Utlåtande - Hög prestanda kostar pengar

Asus NUC 14 Pro+ med Intel Core Ultra 9 185H sticker ut på många sätt som en kompakt minidator. Den drivs av en nästa generations processor och ger utmärkt prestanda för krävande uppgifter, från multitasking till kreativa applikationer som bild- och videoredigering. Asus NUC 14 Pro+ ser visuellt mindre ut än många andra minidatorer, tack vare det eleganta färgschemat i silver och vitt. En särskilt imponerande funktion är det breda utbudet av anslutningsmöjligheter, inklusive två framtidssäkra Thunderbolt 4-portar. Den verktygsfria demonteringen av undersidan är ett smart designval, vilket möjliggör snabba och enkla uppgraderingar av SSD eller RAM.

Fodral - En solid blandning av metall och plast

Visuellt skiljer sig Asus NUC 14 Pro+ tydligt från de välkända NUC-minidatorerna som nu säljs av Asus. Företaget har valt en kombination av aluminium och plast för materialen. Undersidan, som också fungerar som en underhållslucka, är tillverkad av plast, medan toppen är tillverkad av aluminium. Sammantaget är bearbetningen av den lilla datorn felfri. Både visuellt och taktiskt finns det inget att kritisera om Asus NUC 14 Pro+. När det gäller fotavtryck tar Asus NUC 14 Pro+ upp något mer utrymme än några av sina konkurrenter. Anslutningsmöjligheter - alla viktiga funktioner ingår

Mini-PC:n erbjuder ett gediget urval av externa portar, även om den inte når upp till Geekom GT1 Mega när det gäller det totala antalet anslutningar. Underhåll

Asus NUC 14 Pro+ finns också i en barebone-version, vilket innebär att du måste installera RAM-minnet och SSD-enheten själv. Detta är ganska enkelt, eftersom undersidan kan tas bort utan verktyg. Vårt testexemplar har redan en SSD och två SO-DIMM-moduler installerade. Det finns fortfarande utrymme för att lägga till ytterligare en SSD, men den totala längden på 42 millimeter måste tas med i beräkningen.

Hållbarhet

Jämfört med en traditionell stationär dator är Asus NUC 14 Pro+ en kompakt dator som erbjuder betydande energibesparingsfördelar. Den levereras i en liten, lagom stor låda. Själva minidatorn är främst tillverkad av metall och plast, men det är oklart om några speciellt återvunna material används i konstruktionen. Vi uppskattar den treåriga garantiperioden, som är en anmärkningsvärd funktion.

Prestanda - Intel Core Ultra 9 185H utan några begränsningar

Intel Core Intel Core Ultra 9 185H är Intels flaggskeppsmodell i den nuvarande Meteor Lake H-serien. Dess hybriddesign erbjuder betydande prestanda för vardagliga uppgifter samtidigt som den är energieffektiv när full effekt inte behövs. Asus NUC 14 Pro+ med Intel Core Ultra 7 155Hsom har samma antal kärnor, är ett något mer prisvärt alternativ. Längre ner på skalan finns Asus NUC 14 Pro+ med Intel Core Ultra 5 125H SoC drar också nytta av hybriddesignen och innehåller en NPU. Den här modellen är ett utmärkt val för dem som prioriterar pris/prestanda-värde.

Testförhållanden

Vi genomförde alla prestandatester med den balanserade energiprofilen och ändrade inte SoC-prestandan, utan lämnade den i sitt standardtillstånd enligt BIOS-inställningarna (balanserad). De omfattande BIOS-konfigurationerna är utmärkta. Jämfört med minidatorer från märken som Geekom, Minisforum eller Acemagic sticker Asus tydligt ut i detta avseende. Förutom att justera CPU:ns strömförbrukning kan användare även inaktivera enskilda USB-portar vid behov.

Processor

Toppmodellen av Asus NUC 14 Pro+ drivs av en Intel Core Ultra 9 185Hsom har 16 kärnor och 22 trådar, vilket ger utmärkt prestanda med flera trådar. Asus begränsar inte den maximala strömförbrukningen, vilket innebär att upp till 115 watt är teoretiskt möjligt. I stresstester observerade vi att systemet klarar korta strömförbrukningspauser på upp till 100 watt. Även om Asus inte fullt ut utnyttjar potentialen inom detta område, uppnår SoC i Asus NUC 14 Pro+ högre strömförbrukning jämfört med andra mini-datorer. Prestandaskillnaderna mellan konkurrerande modeller är dock minimala, så det finns ingen märkbar skillnad.

Den nya Intel Core Ultra 5 125H inkluderades också för prestandajämförelse. Jämfört med Intel Core Ultra 9 185H är Intel Core Ultra 5 125H ungefär 10 till 15 procent långsammare.

Spelprestanda för Asus NUC 14 Pro+ i jämförelse med enheter med dedikerade grafikkort. Spel är dock fortfarande möjligt om du är villig att sänka grafikinställningarna. Även med reducerade detaljer kan denna mini-dator köra flera spel. Jämfört med konkurrenterna är Geekom GT1 Mega bättre än vårt testexemplar, men att införliva en AMD Radeon 780M förbättrar prestandan. Asus NUC 14 Pro+ är utrustad med två Thunderbolt-portar och har stöd för externa grafikkortsanslutningar. Det är dock viktigt att notera bandbreddsbegränsningen, eftersom en extern GPU endast kan arbeta med PCIe 3.0 x4-hastigheter via en USB4-anslutning. Vi testade prestandan med ett Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 för att se vilken typ av prestandaökning som kan förväntas med det snabbaste konsumentgrafikkortet som för närvarande finns tillgängligt.

Under testet kan 3D-prestanda se betydande förbättringar i vissa scenarier. Både syntetiska benchmarks och spelbenchmarks visar de potentiella vinsterna. Det finns en märkbar prestandaförsämring jämfört med att använda grafikkortet i en vanlig stationär dator. Som referens jämförde vi dessa resultat med dem från AMD Ryzen 5 9600X i kombination med Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090. En potentiell lösning för att minimera prestandaförlusten skulle kunna vara en OCuLink-anslutning, även om det fortfarande är ett sällsynt alternativ. Utsläpp - ett tveeggat svärd

Systembuller

Asus använder ett aktivt kylsystem i NUC 14 Pro+, med en fläkt placerad på undersidan av enheten. Vi har dock observerat att kylningslösningen snabbt når sina gränser under stresstestet Cinebench R15. Ljudnivåerna visar tydligt att den enda fläkten måste arbeta hårt för att cirkulera tillräckligt med frisk luft genom chassit. Med en genomsnittlig ljudnivå på 45,7 dB(A) är Asus NUC 14 Pro+ tydligt hörbar. Under stresstestet registrerade vi en topp på 47,4 dB(A). I viloläge arbetar enheten tyst, även om fläkten fortsätter att snurra.

Fläktprofilen kan ställas in i BIOS. För att jämföra testade vi systemet i både viskningsläge och prestandaläge. I viskningsläget sjunker den maximala ljudnivån till cirka 43 dB(A), vilket gör det mer acceptabelt för långvarig användning. Å andra sidan resulterar prestandaläget i en betydande ökning av bullret, med en ljudtrycksnivå på nästan 58 dB(A), vilket vi inte rekommenderar för daglig användning.

Temperatur

Yttemperaturerna på Asus NUC 14 Pro+ varierar avsevärt mellan tomgång och belastning. Metallytan fördelar värmen effektivt och förhindrar lokala hotspots. Under stresstestet har Intel Core Ultra 9 185H lätt nå temperaturer på 212 °F. SoC:n är konstruerad för att klara upp till 239 watt under kontinuerlig belastning, även om denna topp inte utnyttjas fullt ut. På kort sikt toppar strömförbrukningen något över 212 watt, men under ihållande belastning släpper systemet vanligtvis bara ut cirka 147 watt. Energihantering

Asus NUC 14 Pro+ är i grunden en prisvärd mini-dator som presterar bäst i viloläge och under måttlig belastning. På grund av processorns toppeffekt ökar den kortsiktiga strömförbrukningen betydligt jämfört med andra minidatorer. Med strax under 145 watt registrerar vårt testexemplar det högsta värdet i denna jämförelse. Det är värt att notera att detta värde endast nås under en kort period. Nätaggregatet, som kan leverera upp till 150 watt, är väl tilltaget för systemet.
