Med den nya MagicBook Art 14 lanserar Honor en mycket lätt subnotebook med en Intel Meteor Lake-processor (Core Ultra 7 155H) och kombineras med en högupplöst OLED-pekskärm som erbjuder en frekvens på 120 Hz. När det gäller webbkameran bryter Honor ny mark genom att använda en fästbar modul som helt enkelt kan stuvas undan i höljet när den inte används. Detta innebär att skärmens kanter kan vara extremt smala. Vår testenhet erbjuder även 32 GB RAM och en 1 TB SSD; priset var ännu inte tillgängligt vid testtillfället. En variant med 16 GB RAM & 1 TB SSD finns också tillgänglig.

Hölje - Högkvalitativ magnesiumlegering

Den nya MagicBook Art 14 är en mycket tunn och med sina 1,013 kg (~2,23 lb) också mycket lätt bärbar dator. Visuellt har den nya MagicBook Art 14 mycket gemensamt med Huawei MateBook X Pro 2024 inklusive tangentbordet med högtalargaller och formen på pekplattan. Honor erbjuder enheten i tre olika färger. Förutom vår testenhet i grönt finns den bärbara datorn också i vitt och grått. Visuellt ger den gröna versionen ett mycket elegant intryck och överraskande nog är de lätt sammetslena ytorna inte särskilt känsliga för fingeravtryck.

Honor använder en anslutningsbar webbkamera (mer om detta om en stund), vilket är anledningen till att skärmens övre kant är mycket smal (2,2 mm) och att det inte finns något irriterande hack eller någon kameraknöl. Skärm-till-kropp-förhållandet är mycket bra, 91%. På ovansidan finns tre små kontakter för den magnetiska webbkameran.

Vi gillar verkligen stabiliteten i metallhöljet (magnesiumlegering). Basenheten kan knappast tryckas in eller vridas, inte ens med mycket kraft, och det finns inga knarrande ljud. Det tunna skärmlocket är lite mer flexibelt, men inte heller här är det några problem. Gångjärnen är mycket väl justerade och locket vickar knappt när öppningsvinkeln justeras (max 150 grader). Locket kan enkelt öppnas med en hand, vilket underlättas av urtaget på pekplattan.

Trots sin 14,6-tumsskärm är MagicBook mycket kompakt och framför allt mycket lätt med sina 1,013 kg (~2,23 lb). Inom jämförelsegruppen är det bara MateBook X Pro 2024 och LG Gram Style 14 något lättare (20-30 gram/~0,7-1,1 oz), men det är inte märkbart. När det gäller höjd är det bara den passivt kylda MacBook Air M3 och Galaxy Book4 Pro 14 är något plattare. Själva fotavtrycket är något större än de flesta konkurrenter på grund av den stora skärmen.

Funktioner - Thunderbolt 4, USB-A & HDMI

Trots den platta designen begränsar sig Honor inte bara till USB-C-portar, utan har även en full HDMI-utgång och en vanlig USB-A-port på höger sida. Du kan därför klara dig utan adaptrar i vardagen. På vänster sida finns två USB-C-portar, varav den främre stöder den moderna Thunderbolt 4-standarden. Jämfört med MateBook X Pro (endast 3x USB-C) gillar vi anslutningsmöjligheterna hos MagicBook Art bättre, även om du inte kan ladda den på båda sidor. En SD-kortläsare är inte tillgänglig.

Kommunikation

Honor använder den välkända AX211 WLAN-modulen från Intel, som förutom 6 GHz-nätverk även använder Bluetooth 5.3. I kombination med vår referensrouter från Asus uppnår MagicBook Art 14 mycket höga och stabila överföringshastigheter. Under vårt test hade vi inga problem med signalkvaliteten eller med stora nedladdningar.

Webbkamera

Honor har kommit på något speciellt för webbkameran, för istället för att bygga in webbkameran i skärmens överkant är den utformad som en extern modul som kan stuvas undan i höljet. Den kompakta modulen har samma färg som höljet och kan, i likhet med microSD-kort, dras ut ur höljet genom att trycka på modulen. Denna mekanism är fjäderbelastad och ger ett solitt intryck. Webbkameran i sig är magnetiskt fäst, så den kommer inte att falla av.

De motsvarande kontakterna för webbkameran finns på skärmlocket. Den sitter mycket stadigt på locket och vickar inte runt. Webbkamerans orientering kan också ändras. Kvaliteten på webbkameran med 1080p-sensorn i sig är dock bara genomsnittlig och med tanke på den relativt stora modulen skulle vi ha velat ha en större sensor här. Dessutom stöds inte studioeffekterna för webbkameran, vilket är obegripligt för oss. Vi är dock redan i kontakt med tillverkaren om detta.

Underhåll

Det nedre höljet sitter fast med Torx-skruvar och är lätt att ta bort, för till skillnad från MateBook X Pro finns det inga dolda skruvar under limmade gummifötter. M.2 2280 SSD är tillgänglig bredvid fläktarna, men RAM-minnet och WLAN-modulen är lödda. En titt på kylsystemet avslöjar en speciell design. Här används en tunn ångkammare, som också rymmer antennerna för WLAN-anslutningen.

Inmatningsenheter - Bekvämt tangentbord och haptisk pekplatta

Trots det tunna höljet har det svarta tangentbordet en tangentrörelse på 1,5 mm och är ett mycket bra tangentbord. Tangenttryckningarna och återkopplingen är exakta och även långa texter kan skrivas utan problem. I detta avseende har MagicBook inget att dölja från dyra bärbara datorer för företag. Volymen på tangenterna är diskret, bara utlösningen av mellanslagstangenten är högre. Layouten är inte perfekt (vi hänvisar inte till den internationella tangentbordsversionen), eftersom strömbrytaren (som också innehåller fingeravtrycksläsaren) är integrerad i tangentbordets övre högra del och därför lätt kan förväxlas med raderingsknappen. De vertikala piltangenterna är också mycket små. Den vita tangentbordsbelysningen har två intensitetsnivåer och kan aktiveras automatiskt via en sensor.

Precis som MateBook X Pro har den nya MagicBook Art 14 också en stor haptisk pekplatta, så det finns inga rörliga delar. Den haptiska återkopplingen simuleras av vibrationsmotorer, vilket är anledningen till att du kan klicka på plattan när som helst och få konsekvent återkoppling. Kudden stöder också gester vid kanterna (ljusstyrka, volym), som också får haptisk feedback genom vibrationen. Sammantaget är funktionen utmärkt.

Den kapacitiva pekskärmen är också tillgänglig för inmatningar, som fungerar som förväntat utan problem. Pekfunktionen kan också avaktiveras via snabbmenyn i den förinstallerade PC Manager.

Display - 120 Hz OLED

Honor använder en 14,6-tums OLED-skärm med en upplösning på 3.020 x 2.080 pixlar i 3:2-format. Skärmens hörn är rundade, vilket är anledningen till att vissa ikoner inte visas fullt ut, men i praktiken bör det inte finnas några begränsningar här. Pekskärmen är mycket reflekterande och reflektioner kan också vara problematiska inomhus, men det finns ingen rastereffekt på ljusa ytor, vilket är fallet med vissa OLED-paneler. Den subjektiva bildkvaliteten är helt enkelt enastående, eftersom färgerna är mycket levande och kontrastförhållandet är extremt högt tack vare den rika svärtan. Frekvensen på 120 Hz garanterar också mjuka rörelser. Ljusstyrkan kan regleras automatiskt via en sensor, men det går inte att reglera färgtemperaturen.

I SDR-läge uppnår OLED-panelen en genomsnittlig ljusstyrka på 480 cd/m² och en maximal ljusstyrka på 704 cd/m² i HDR-läge (eller 670 cd/m² med en nästan helt vit bild). Dessa värden är betydligt lägre än för MateBook X Pro 2024 (620 nits SDR, 1.200 nits HDR), men fortfarande klart över de nuvarande OLED-panelerna från Samsung (~400 nits SDR, ~580 nits HDR).

Honor levererar MagicBook Art 14 med olika färgprofiler, som vi analyserade med den professionella CalMAN-programvaran (X-Rite i1 Pro 2). Native-profilen är aktiv som standard, men färgerna är något övermättade. P3-profilen, å andra sidan, visar färgerna och gråskalan mycket exakt, bara färgtemperaturen är något för varm. Alla avvikelser ligger dock redan under den viktiga gränsen på 3.

Display response times show how fast the screen is able to change from one color to the next. Slow response times can lead to afterimages and can cause moving objects to appear blurry (ghosting). Gamers of fast-paced 3D titles should pay special attention to fast response times.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Testförhållanden

Något förvånande finns det inga ytterligare energiprofiler tillgängliga i PC Manager. Vi genomförde följande benchmarks och mätningar med Windows prestandaläge Bästa prestanda.

Processor - Intel Core Ultra 7 155H

Processorn är Intels Meteor Lake-chip Core Ultra 7 155Hsom erbjuder totalt 16 kärnor. I MagicBook Art 14 arbetar processorn kortvarigt på 43 watt, men sjunker sedan snabbt till 28 watt. Även om den slimmade notebooken inte sätter några prestandarekord är processorns prestanda helt tillräcklig för de flesta vardagliga uppgifter och, som vi kommer att se senare, har de ganska konservativa effektgränserna också en positiv effekt på fläktbeteendet. Snapdragon-chipen i vissa konkurrerande modeller erbjuder bättre prestanda i inbyggda CPU-benchmarks.

I batteriläge sjunker den maximala förbrukningen till 40/26 watt, vilket är anledningen till att flerkärnsprestandan är 15% lägre här. Ytterligare CPU-benchmarks finns tillgängliga här.

Grafikberäkningarna utförs av den välkända Intel Arc Graphics som är den snabba versionen med 8 Xe-kärnor och en maximal klockfrekvens på 2.250 MHz. På grund av de låga effektgränserna kan iGPU:ns fulla potential inte utnyttjas, men prestandan är fortfarande bra och i vardagsanvändning klarar iGPU:n alla uppgifter (inklusive uppspelning av högupplösta videor) utan problem. GPU:n X1-85 GPU i Snapdragon-processorerna är långsammare i de syntetiska testerna (inklusive inbyggda tester som WildLife eller Steel Nomad Light).

MagicBook Art 14 kan också användas för spel och till skillnad från Snapdragon-datorerna finns det inga kompatibilitetsproblem. Många äldre eller mindre krävande titlar körs också smidigt med höga detaljer, endast krävande spel som Cyberpunk 2077 eller Baldur's Gate 3 kräver minskning till minsta detaljer eller användning av uppskalning. MagicBook Art 14 använder två fläktar och är överlag en mycket tyst enhet. I nätdrift förblir fläktarna vanligtvis avaktiverade eller så hörs bara ett mycket tyst ljud som knappt hörs. Under något tyngre belastning är det ofta fortfarande mindre än 30 dB(A) och endast vid spel eller i stresstestet blir kylningen mer hörbar vid 34 eller 35 dB(A), men även i detta fall är ljudet inte på något sätt störande. I batteriläge förblir enheten ännu tystare överlag. Sammantaget drar MagicBook nytta av processorns jämförelsevis låga effektgränser och behöver inte gömma sig bakom Snapdragon-konkurrenterna. Det fanns inga andra elektroniska ljud i vår testenhet.

Det finns inga anmärkningsvärda egenskaper i temperaturerna överlag. Ytorna förblir behagligt svala i tomgångsläge och under låg belastning, och vi uppmätte ett genomsnittligt maximum på 38 °C (100,4 °F) även under hög belastning. Även om det finns en hotspot på undersidan med 47 °C (116,6 °F/i det centrala bakre området), går det att placera den på låren utan problem. Det finns inte heller några begränsningar när du använder tangentbordet. I stresstestet med kombinerad CPU/GPU-belastning sjunker prestandan snabbt igen och CPU:n stabiliseras på 22 watt.

Trots den höga ljusstyrkan och den stora panelen är MagicBook Art 14 en effektiv dator. Vi uppmätte maximalt 8,9 watt i viloläge med full ljusstyrka, vilket är ett bra resultat. När du spelar kan du förvänta dig runt 40 watt och i stresstestet är det 66,9 watt under en mycket kort tid, vilket planar ut på 46 watt efter några sekunder. Den medföljande 65-watts strömförsörjningen är därför tillräckligt dimensionerad.

Strömförbrukningen i standby-läge och när den är avstängd är inte extremt hög, men det finns fortfarande potential för optimering här.

Batteriets livslängd

Drifttiderna med 60 Wh-batteriet är överlag bra, men svagare än Snapdragon-konkurrenterna och MacBook Air M3. Resultaten är dock bättre än för MateBook X Proäven om ett större 70 Wh-batteri är installerat här.

I WLAN-testet med 150 cd/m² (motsvarar 62% av den maximala SDR-ljusstyrkan i testenheten) och 60 Hz fastställer vi en drifttid på 9:36 timmar eller 9 timmar med 120 Hz. Vid full ljusstyrka sjunker värdena till 5:52 timmar (60 Hz) och 5:21 timmar (120 Hz). I videotestet vid 150 cd/m² registrerade vi mycket bra 13:52 timmar och cirka 6,5 timmar när vi spelade upp en HDR-video med full ljusstyrka.

En full laddning med enheten påslagen tar 105 minuter, varvid 80% av batteriet är tillgängligt igen efter bara 69 minuter.

Slutsats - MagicBook Art 14 erbjuder ett bra helhetspaket med en smart webbkameralösning

Den nya MagicBook Art 14 gjorde ett mycket gott intryck i vårt test. Honor presenterar en mycket välbalanserad subnotebook med låg vikt, men utan att kompromissa med stabilitet eller anslutningsmöjligheter. Dessutom är den fästbara webbkameran en smart lösning som möjliggör mycket tunna skärmkanter utan hack eller kamerapuckel. Webbkameramodulen kan enkelt fästas magnetiskt på locket och modulen försvinner in i höljet när den inte används. Hela mekanismen ger ett mycket gediget intryck.

Meteor Lake-processorn sätter inga prestandarekord, men effektgränserna matchar kylningsprestandan mycket väl och fläktljudet förblir överlag mycket lågt. Det finns inte heller några temperaturproblem tack vare ångkammarkylningen. OLED-skärmen med 120 Hz är imponerande i praktiskt taget alla avseenden, även om den är mycket reflekterande. Bildkvaliteten är extremt bra och det finns korrekta färgprofiler. Batteritiden är också okej, även om MagicBook faller bakom Snapdragon-konkurrensen eller några andra jämförelseenheter med större batterier.

Högkvalitativt och lätt hölje, mycket bra inmatningsenheter, en utmärkt OLED-skärm och en bra balans mellan prestanda och utsläpp: Den nya Honor MagicBook Art 14 är en utmärkt subnotebook utan några riktiga svaga punkter, men med en mycket innovativ kameralösning.

Det finns många likheter, särskilt visuellt, med Huawei MateBook X Promen med vilken fler kompromisser måste göras. Dessa inkluderar till exempel höljets stabilitet, avsaknaden av HDMI / USB-A och framför allt de högre fläktarna. MateBook har en klar fördel när det gäller skärmens ljusstyrka, men allt som allt är Honor MagicBook Art 14 det bättre övergripande paketet.

Jämfört med Snapdragon-konkurrenterna har MagicBook bara en nackdel när det gäller batteritid, men det finns inga problem med kompatibiliteten för appar/spel/tillbehör. Apple's MacBook Air är fortfarande en stark konkurrent med lång batteritid och den snabba M3-processorn, som fortfarande kan kylas passivt. IPS-skärmen med 60 Hz är dock svagare än OLED-skärmen med 120 Hz.
