Uppdatering 03/05: Med tanke på att RTX 5070 FE inte kommer att finnas tillgängligt förrän i slutet av mars enligt Nvidia, pausar vi tillfälligt Editor's choice-utmärkelsen för detta kort i väntan på ytterligare tillgänglighet till MSRP.

RTX 50-seriens lansering har varit allt annat än fantastisk, med allt från smältande kontakter till defekta chip med saknad hårdvara, bristfälliga leveranser och uppblåsta priser på grund av skalpering. Ändå ger ankomsten av RTX 5070 ytterligare en chans för Nvidia att korrigera sig själv.

Nvidias planer för en RTX 5060 eller en RTX 5050 längre fram är oklara vid denna tidpunkt, men RTX 5070 är för närvarande porten till allt som Blackwell syftar till att erbjuda.

Prestandamässigt lyckas RTX 5070 överträffa RTX 4070 Ti i syntetiska riktmärken trots en 20% brist på CUDA-kärnor.

Spel är dock en blandad påse. Även om det finns titlar som gynnar RTX 5070:s minnesförbättringar, tenderar RTX 4070 Ti att ha en liten fördel överlag.

Den verkliga kickern är dock stöd för DLSS 4 multi-frame generation. Nvidias djärva påståenden om prestanda som kan jämföras med RTX 4090 har en viss sanning, men detta kommer med en stor asterisk.

Låt oss vara ärliga. En förkrympt Blackwell GPU kan aldrig matcha en nästan komplett Ada-dies råa prestanda. Med detta sagt kan RTX 5070 göra god användning av MFG i de ynkliga spel som stöder det, trots latensproblem.

Även om det är ett instegskort gör RTX 5070 FE ingen besviken när det gäller grunderna. Dess byggkvalitet är förstklassig, utsläppen är i stort sett under kontroll förutom de ibland högljudda fläktarna, och energieffektivitetsvinsterna jämfört med de bästa Nvidia- och AMD-erbjudandena är ganska påtagliga.

Det kommer dock inte att bli en dans på rosor för Nvidia med de förestående RDNA 4 Radeon RX 9070 XT- och RX 9070-lanseringarna, särskilt med RX 9070 som också prissätts till 549 $. Detta blir särskilt oroande med tanke på det faktum att RTX 5070 erbjuder bara 12 GB VRAM, vilket bleknar i jämförelse med de 16 GB som erbjuds från tävlingen.

Ur en rent prestandasynpunkt bör RTX 5070 inte ha några problem med att hitta ett stort antal spelare som huvudsakligen behöver en kapabel 1080p eller 1440p Ultra GPU.

Nvidia måste dock få både lagertillgänglighet och prissättning rätt för att förhindra att potentiella kunder graviterar mot Team Red.

Nvidias Blackwell-generation av GPU:er, den GeForce RTX 5090, RTX 5080och RTX 5070 Tihar sett tumultartat mottagande hittills. Vi är nu framme vid lanseringen av Blackwells GPU på instegsnivå, RTX 5070.

På nära håll med RTX 5070 Founders Edition

RTX 5070 FE är baserat på exakt samma designspråk som de andra FE-korten i RTX 50-serien. Med måtten 24,5 x 10 x 4 cm och en vikt på bara ca 1,1 kg är RTX 5070 FE mycket mer kompakt än de redan små formfaktorvänliga RTX 5090 FE och RTX 5080 FE.

Portar: 3x DisplayPort 2.1b-utgång, 1x HDMI 2.1b-utgång

GPU:n erbjuder en uppsättning med 3x DisplayPort 2.1b-utgångar med UHBR20-stöd och en enda HDMI 2.1b-utgång, som nu är standard i Blackwell-generationen.

Trots att RTX 5070 FE är en 250 W GPU använder den den nya 12V-2x6 strömkontakten.

Du bör inte ha några problem med att använda befintliga 12VHPWR-kablar från ATX 3.x-strömförsörjningar, men observera att rätvinkliga kontakter inte passar in i det vinklade urtaget på GPU-änden.

En praktisk 16-polig till 2x 8-polig adapter medföljer i lådan, så att du kan fortsätta använda din pålitliga äldre PSU utan problem.

Lyckligtvis har vår RTX 5070 FE-enhet alla sina 80 ROP:er aktiverade (puh!). GPU:n har 12 GB GDDR7 VRAM på ett 192-bitars minnesgränssnitt som kan leverera en teoretisk bandbredd på 672 GB/s.

RTX 5070 FE kan boostas upp till 2 512 MHz, men högre boostklockor är möjliga beroende på tillgänglig effekt och termiskt utrymme.

Kortet är som standard klassat för en 250 W TGP. Det är möjligt att ytterligare öka effektmålet med 10%, vilket resulterar i en 275 W TGP.

RTX 5070 FE lyckas något överträffa Gigabyte Aorus Gigabyte Aorus GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Master med 4 % i kumulativa syntetiska riktmärken trots att det har 20 % färre CUDA-kärnor. MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16G Ventus 3X OC ligger före RTX 5070 FE med hela 21 %.

Å andra sidan ger RTX 4070 Ti:s högre antal kärnor det en liknande fördel i specifika tester som 3DMark Port Royal, Steel Nomad och Time Spy Graphics.

RTX 5070 FE pressas till det yttersta när den hanterar strålspårningsuppgifter. De 12 GB GDDR7 VRAM visar sig vara anemiska för 2025 eftersom VRAM-tunga titlar som Indiana Jones and the Great Circle omedelbart kraschar till skrivbordet även med minimal spårning aktiverad trots DLSS och ramgenereringshjälp.

Star Wars Outlaws och Black Myth: Wukong kan erbjuda spelbara bildfrekvenser vid 1440p och 4K med lite uppskalningshjälp från DLSS, ramgenerering och strålrekonstruktionstekniker.

DLSS 4 generering av flera ramar

I Blackwell-generationen lanseras DLSS 4, som använder en ny transformatormodell som påstås ge högre visuell återgivning jämfört med det konventionella neurala nätverket (CNN) som var på modet fram till DLSS 3.

Medan DLSS 4 kommer till alla RTX GPU:er, inklusive de som är så långt tillbaka som Turing-generationen, är det bara Blackwell-kort som stöder multi-frame generation (MFG).

RTX 5070 FE drar stor nytta av DLSS 4 MFG i titlar som stöds. I Alan Wake 2 klarar RTX 5070 FE till exempel ett genomsnitt på 90 fps i 4K med 4x MFG och Ultra ray tracing-inställningar, vilket gör att det kommer ganska nära RTX 4090:s genomsnitt på 108 fps med standardramgenerering i High ray tracing-förinställningen.

I Star Wars Outlaws uppnår RTX 5070 FE 87 fps i genomsnitt med 4K Ultra ray tracing-inställningar med 4x MFG, vilket närmar sig RTX 4090:s 90 fps i genomsnitt med konventionell bildgenerering.

Även om RTX 5070 inte är någon match för en RTX 4090 när det gäller ren hästkrafter, hjälper generering av flera ramar att erbjuda smidigare spel vid krävande inställningar till ett lägre pris.

Det är möjligt att lägga till MFG-funktionalitet i titlar som stöds via Nvidia-appen, även om utvecklarna ännu inte har implementerat den i spelet.

Utsläpp: Relativt låg yttemperatur men högt fläktljud under belastning

RTX 5070 FE är ett Founders Edition-kort och har samma kylardesign som sina större kusiner, men utan ett termiskt gränssnittsmaterial i flytande metall.

De bakre ventilationsöppningarna är subtilt vinklade för effektiv ventilation. Eftersom varm luft riktas mot chassits ovansida rekommenderas placering av kylaren mot chassits ovansida för de som använder en allt-i-ett-kylare.

Stresstest

RTX 5070 FE uppnår en maximal klockfrekvens på 2 700 MHz med en förbrukning på 252 W när det utsätts för en FurMark-belastning på 1 280 x 720 utan AA.

Denna frekvens upprätthålls dock inte länge och den genomsnittliga klockfrekvensen ligger nära 2 500 MHz vid 250 W med en kärntemperatur på i genomsnitt 78,4 °C.

När vi stressar med Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty i 1080p Ultra får RTX 5070 FE en boost på upp till 2 512 MHz vid 209 W

Genomsnittliga klockfrekvenser under denna stress ligger återigen runt 2 500 MHz, men strömförbrukningen sjunker till 197 W med genomsnittliga kärntemperaturer på 69 °C.

En höjning av effektmålet till 110% resulterar i högre strömförbrukning och kärntemperaturer utan någon märkbar ökning av GPU-frekvensen.

Med detta sagt gör RTX 5070 FE:s kylsystem ett bra jobb med att erbjuda bibehållna bildhastigheter utan problem med strypning, vilket ses i Cyberpunk 2077 1080p- och 4K Ultra-diagrammen nedan.

Yttemperaturer

Yttemperaturerna förblir i stort sett hanterbara under omgivningsförhållanden på 23 °C. Vi uppmätte 36 °C på den främre kåpan och nära 46 °C på kortets baksida.

Området vid den vänstra avgasventilen värmdes dock upp till 62,2 °C. Trots påfrestningarna förblev området nära 12V-2x6 relativt svalt med 44,5 °C.

Bullernivåer

RTX 5070 FE:s fläktar kan bli ganska högljudda under belastning

Kortets kompakta design innebär att fläktarna måste arbeta extra hårt ibland beroende på belastningen, vilket kan leda till höga ljudnivåer.

Vi registrerade en ljudtrycksnivå (SPL) på 46,52 db(A) under belastning med FurMark på 1 280 x 720 utan AA med ett effektmål på 100 %. Att höja effektmålet till 110% resulterar i betydligt högre 53,10 dB(A) SPL.

Med detta sagt är det osannolikt att de flesta arbetsbelastningar för spel kommer att pressa fläktarna till sina gränser. Till exempel observerade vi ganska nominella ljudnivåer på 43,80 db(A) och 45,08 dB(A) när vi stressade med Cyberpunk 2077 vid 1080p Ultra i både 100% och 110% effektmål, respektive.

Energihantering: Ekonomisk slukare med en effektivitetsfördel jämfört med RX 7900 XT

RTX 5070 FE förbrukar 12% mindre ström än Aorus RTX 4070 Ti Master i FurMark. Strömförbrukningen under körning av Cyberpunk 2077 och The Witcher 3 visar också liknande trender.

GB205 GPU:n matchar också RTX 5090 och RX 7900 XT i energieffektivitet när man spelar Cyberpunk 2077.

På Witcher 3 uppnår RTX 5070 FE RTX 4090-nivåer av effektivitet samtidigt som den är 8 % och 19 % mer effektiv än RTX 4070 Ti Master respektive RX 7900 XT.
