Recension av MSI WE76: Mobil arbetsstation som satsar på maximal prestanda

Nvidia RTX A5000 på 155 watt.

MSI presenterar WE76, en kraftfull mobil arbetsstation som är baserad på den bärbara speldatorn GE76. Förutom en professionell RTX GPU från Nvidia imponerar WE76 också med ett mycket bra tangentbord och en matt 4K-skärm.

MSI har tidigare sålt sina bärbara speldatorer med små ändringar som mobila arbetsstationer. Eftersom bärbara speldatorer också är utformade för hög prestanda är detta steg logiskt. Den nya MSI WE76 är baserad på MSI GE76, som vi redan recenserat. Men istället för konsumentgrafikenheterna GeForce använder WE76 de nya professionella RTX A GPU:erna från Nvidia, vilket ger certifieringar även för professionell programvara.

Vår recensionsenhet är den avancerade varianten WE76 11UM-456 som kostar 4 799 euro (~5 419 dollar) och är utrustad med följande Core i9-11980HK-processor, den professionella RTX A5000 GPU, 32 GB RAM, en 2 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD och en matt 4K-panel med full AdobeRGB-täckning. Det finns också den alternativa modellen WE76 11UK-464 som kommer med den Core i7-11800H, denRTX A3000och en mindre 1 TB SSD för 3 099 euro (~3 499 dollar).

Hölje - MSI gör det utan belysning

Höljet på MSI WE76 är identiskt med spelmodellen GE76, men tillverkaren har utelämnat LED-remsan på framkanten. Designen påminner om ett spelkraftverk, men de mattsvarta och grå ytorna gör att den mobila arbetsstationen ser ganska diskret ut, vilket också borde passa bra i en kontorsmiljö. På grund av användningen av en 16:9-skärm (vilket också är fallet i många andra 17-tumsmodeller) ser skärmkanten under skärmen väldigt bred ut, och förhållandet mellan skärmen och höljet är också bara 73 procent.

När det gäller stabilitet och utförande är vårt recensionsexemplar utmärkt; särskilt basenheten är extremt motståndskraftig mot vridning. Locket är lite mer flexibelt, men vi kan inte orsaka några bildförvrängningar. Gångjärnen är i grunden också korrekt justerade, även om de inte kan förhindra att skärmen vinglar i viss mån. Dessutom begränsar den här gångjärnsdesignen den maximala öppningsvinkeln till 135 grader, vilket inte är lika generöst som hos vissa andra konkurrenter

WE76 är en konventionell mobil arbetsstation med fokus på prestanda. Följaktligen låg fokus inte på att göra enheten så tunn och smal som möjligt. Ändå är skillnaden ganska liten i direkt jämförelse med våra två 17-tums konkurrenter, 17-tums ThinkPad P17ochZBook Fury 17. Vår testenhet väger 2 922 gram, men du måste lägga till ytterligare 1 060 gram för den skrymmande nätadaptern när du transporterar den bärbara datorn.

SD-kortläsare

Den fullfjädrade SD-kortläsaren till höger är snabbare än den i den gamla WE75. Vi fastställer överföringshastigheter på 80-90 MB/s med vårt referenskort (Angelbird AV Pro V60). Även om webbkameran i 1080p ovanför skärmen har en något högre upplösning än de vanliga 720p-modulerna är bildkvaliteten fortfarande inte särskilt bra. Vi hade att göra med en relativt hög mängd brus i synnerhet under våra inspelningar. Full HD-videor kan spelas in med 30 FPS

Tangentbord

Precis som sina syskon för spel har WE76-arbetsstationen också ett SteelSeries-tangentbord. Den färgade bakgrundsbelysningen har dock utelämnats; istället finns det bara en vit bakgrundsbelysning. Tangenterna erbjuder en jämförelsevis lång resväg och skrivkänslan är mycket bra och kan lätt konkurrera med de bästa tangentborden i den etablerade arbetsstationskonkurrensen. Dessutom är en fullfjädrad numerisk knappsats integrerad på höger sida. Dess tangenter är lite smalare, men detta visade sig inte vara något problem i praktiken

Pekplatta

Med sina 10,5 x 6,5 cm är ClickPad inte särskilt stor enligt dagens standard, men musstyrningen fungerar utan problem. Den släta ytan ger goda glidegenskaper, och den inbyggda fingeravtrycksläsaren med svepning som sitter i det övre vänstra hörnet är inte i vägen. Pekplattan känns dock lite kladdig eftersom det finns ett litet glapp innan du når den egentliga klickmekanismen. Detta innebär att den nedre halvan kan tryckas ner märkbart utan att ett klick utlöses. Dessutom är själva klicket för högt, vilket gör att det känns billigt.

WE76 är exklusivt tillgänglig med en matt 4K-panel i formatet 16:9. Enligt MSI täcker skärmen även AdobeRGB-färgrymden i sin helhet, och en uppdateringsfrekvens på 120 Hz säkerställer en jämn bild, vilket också är aktiverat som standard. MSI avstår från att använda de ännu snabbare panelerna i sina spelversioner här, vilket dock är vettigt.

Det subjektiva bildintrycket av panelen är utmärkt. Bilderna är extremt skarpa och inte ens ljusa områden ser gryniga ut. Färgerna är dock inte riktigt lika levande jämfört med högkvalitativa OLED- eller mini-LED-paneler. Den genomsnittliga ljusstyrkan är drygt 400 cd/m² och kontrastförhållandet överstiger 1 200:1. Överlag är det en märkbar förbättring jämfört med 1080p-skärmen i den gamla MSI WE75, men några av de högupplösta panelerna från konkurrenterna ger bättre resultat.

PWM används inte och svarstiderna är mycket snabba, vilket innebär att det inte förekommer några spöklika effekter. Vid maximal ljusstyrka kan du märka en liten skärmblödning i kanterna när du använder en mörk bakgrund, men det märks inte i praktiken.

Vår analys (CalMAN och X-Rite i1 Pro 2) visar att alla färger ligger under den viktiga avvikelsen på 3 även när de är klara. Vi kunde dock fortfarande förbättra gråskalereproduktionen en aning med vår kalibrering (motsvarande profil finns att ladda ner ovan). Därför är 4K-panelen lämplig för redigering av bilder/videor utan problem, men HDR-innehåll stöds inte

Display Response Times

Display response times show how fast the screen is able to change from one color to the next. Slow response times can lead to afterimages and can cause moving objects to appear blurry (ghosting). Gamers of fast-paced 3D titles should pay special attention to fast response times.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

In comparison: 53 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 8705 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 343500) Hz was measured.

WE76 är definitivt inte en enhet som ofta används på språng, men panelens matta yta är naturligtvis fördelaktig utomhus och det är mycket bekvämt att använda den åtminstone under molniga dagar. IPS-skärmens betraktningsvinkelstabilitet lämnar inget utrymme för kritik

Prestanda - WE76 med Core i9 och RTX A5000

Provningsvillkor

Förutom de normala Windows-inställningarna erbjuder MSI olika prestandainställningar med det förinstallerade MSI Center Pro. Vi körde följande tester med förinställningen Balanced, men i vissa avseenden tar vi även en titt på effekterna av de andra prestandalägena. Läget High Performance påverkar främst prestandan i stresstestet, vilket innebär att du belastar både CPU och GPU

Processor

MSI har valt IntelCore i9-11980HK processor, som presterar mycket bra i våra tester och ofta kan placera sig i toppen av jämförelsefältet. Processorn kan förbruka maximalt 84 watt, men den stabiliserar sig snabbt på 70 watt och senare på ~62 watt. Detta skulle också vara möjligt med en normalCore i7-11800H som vi kan se i ThinkPad P17 Gen 2. AMDRyzen 9 5900HX är lite snabbare i en jämförbar TDP-konfiguration (~64 watt i fallet med Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 15).

CPU-prestandan minskar märkbart på batteri, eftersom TDP snabbt sjunker till bara 45 watt och sedan 35 watt. Därför bör du räkna med ett underskott på cirka 30-40 procent när du använder alla kärnor. Ytterligare jämförelser finns i vår Artikel om CPU-jämförelser.

Med hjälp avNvidia RTX A5000 (Nvidia har under tiden strukit "Quadro" från namnen) har MSI installerat den mest kraftfulla professionella mobila GPU:n som för närvarande finns tillgänglig på marknaden. Med 16 GB RAM och de professionella drivrutinerna inklusive certifieringarna för professionell programvara är WE76 särskilt lämplig för komplexa CAD/CAM-applikationer eller stora grafikprojekt som inkluderar ray tracing. Med en maximal TDP på 155 watt (även om vi även har sett toppar på upp till 180 watt ibland) är GPU:n helt klart en av de snabbaste modellerna på marknaden. Nvidias Optimus lösning för grafikkoppling stöds, vilket innebär att processorns iGPU används för enkla uppgifter.

Detta kan vi också se i benchmarks, där WE76 lyckas placera sig före konkurrenterna. RTX A5000 i HP ZBook Fury 15 Gär till exempel 10-30 procent långsammare beroende på riktmärke. Det valfria läget High Performance påverkar inte direkt GPU-prestandan, och prestandan är stabil i båda lägena. Utsläpp - WE76 med kraftfull kylning

Bullerutsläpp

Fläktkontrollen är definitivt en av WE76:s svaga punkter. Även vid låg belastning går fläktarna igång hörbart då och då, varför vi alltid rekommenderar att du använder tyst läge för vardagliga uppgifter, eftersom fläktarna då ofta är avaktiverade. Om du behöver mer prestanda (särskilt när det gäller GPU:n) kan du fortfarande justera prestandaläget. Generellt sett är dock MSI:s mobila arbetsstation antingen inte högre eller endast marginellt högre under belastning än konkurrenterna, som ofta är utrustade med svagare komponenter. Profilen High Performance ökar det maximala fläktljudet från knappt 48 till cirka 54 dB(A), vilket kan beskrivas som irriterande högt. Med läget CoolerBooster kan du också aktivera den högsta fläkthastigheten, vilket leder till 58,9 dB(A). Vi rekommenderar att du kontrollerar prestandan i Silent-läget när du spelar, eftersom vi bara kunde mäta 38,6 dB(A) i The Witcher 3, till exempel, vilket innebär att du inte behöver tillgripa hörlurar. Vi kunde dock inte upptäcka några andra elektroniska ljud

Temperatur

WE76 har inga temperaturproblem, eftersom hela höljet förblir väldigt svalt under enkla uppgifter. Även om det finns ett område på bottenens bakre vänstra sida under belastning där vi kan mäta mer än 55 °C (~131 °F), ser vi inte detta som ett problem eftersom du knappast kommer att använda denna mobila arbetsstation i ditt knä. Tangentbordet blir också märkbart varmare vid hög belastning, men skrivandet påverkas inte här.

Du kan se skillnaden mellan prestandalägena i stresstestet, eftersom det valfria läget High Performance ökar CPU:s energiförbrukning från ~42 till 60 watt. GPU-förbrukningen är dock konstant på ~150 watt och resultaten är mycket bra överlag.

Batteriets livslängd

Batteriet på 99,9 Wh är den maximala kapacitet som fortfarande kan transporteras i flygplan. Batteritiderna är lämpliga för prestandan och komponenterna. Med drygt 6 timmar i Wi-Fi-testet vid 150 cd/m² (eller 4:30 timmar vid full ljusstyrka) och strax under 7 timmar i videotestet kan du definitivt överleva lite längre möten utan att behöva ett eluttag. Strax under 80 minuter är möjligt under belastning, men detta är endast möjligt på grund av den betydligt minskade prestandan

Omdöme - MSI erbjuder mycket prestanda

Med WE76 erbjuder MSI helt klart en traditionell mobil arbetsstation som ger mycket prestanda och konkurrerar direkt med modeller som Dell Precision 7770, Dell HP ZBook Fury 17, och Lenovo ThinkPad P17 Gen 2. Mobilitet spelar bara en sekundär roll i dessa enheter och fokus ligger istället på prestanda, vilket är där MSI:s arbetsstation utmärker sig.

Det faktum att tillverkaren har använt en bärbar dator för spel (GE76) som referens är inget problem vad oss beträffar. Den omfattande belysningen har utelämnats, och det finns inte heller några 360 Hz-skärmmodeller, vilket inte alls skulle passa in med tanke på målgruppen. Istället finns en matt 4K-panel med exakta färger, en nästan full AdobeRGB-täckning och 120 Hz, vilket också resulterar i ett märkbart jämnare bildintryck i vardagligt bruk. Dessutom finns det ett mycket bra tangentbord med bland annat en dedikerad sifferplatta.

I synnerhet är prestandan hos den professionellaNvidia RTX A5000 (tidigare Quadro) grafikkortet är helt och hållet övertygande. Processorprestandan är också mycket bra, även om det här måste sägas att AMD:s mobila CPU:er för närvarande är bättre, men de har ännu inte implementerats i arbetsstationer (detta gäller för alla tillverkare).

Extremt snabbt grafikkort, hög systemprestanda, matt 4K-skärm och bra tangentbord: MSI WE76 är en mobil arbetsstation som främst fokuserar på prestanda.

Fläktbeteendet är en av de få svaga punkterna, eftersom de ofta kickar igång även vid normal vardaglig användning, vilket gör att de verkar lite oregelbundna. Det valfria läget Silent mode rekommenderas här, eftersom det håller enheten mycket tystare. Under belastning är dock den maximala fläktvolymen helt konkurrenskraftig och inte överdrivet högljudd.

Användare som behöver maximal prestanda kommer inte att gå fel med WE76, och MSI har även här fördelar gentemot de tidigare nämnda utmanarna. De något mindre 16-tumsmodellerna (16-tums ThinkPad P1 Gen 4ellerAsus ProArt StudioBook 16, till exempel) är visserligen mer kompakta och mer mobila, men de erbjuder också mindre prestanda i gengäld.
