Acer Swift 14 AI recension: Den första bärbara datorn med Arc Graphics 130V

Långa drifttider tack vare Lunar Lake.

Acers Swift 14 AI är en kompakt och lättviktig bärbar multimediadator som har tillgång till Intels helt nya och ganska effektiva Lunar Lake-arkitektur. Arc Graphics 130V iGPU, som vi ännu inte har testat, var tvungen att konkurrera med 140V såväl som med sina föregångare i benchmarks.

Utlåtande

bärbara datorer på 14 tum är för närvarande högsta mode eftersom de erbjuder en bra balans mellan bärbarhet, prestanda och hyfsat stora skärmar. Acers Swift 14 AI är inget undantag från detta eftersom den installerade Core Ultra 5 226V levererar en anständig mängd kraft samtidigt som förbrukningen hålls relativt låg. Som ett resultat kan dess körtider klassas som en av 14-tums enhetens höjdpunkter, även om vissa av konkurrenterna har en lika bra standard. Trots detta är cirka 12,5 timmars surfande på webben med WLAN (med ljusstyrkan sänkt) ingen dålig prestation. Vi har knappt heller något att anmärka på det snygga fodralet som är stabilt, lätt att transportera och har bra inmatningsenheter. Om du kan komma överens med den saknade kortläsaren är anslutningsmöjligheterna tillräckliga. Swift 14 har till exempel fått två USB-4-portar som stöder DisplayPort- och Thunderbolt-funktionalitet.

Som vanligt kommer åsikterna att gå isär när det gäller OLED-skärmen. Medan vissa hyllar den kontrastrika avbildningen kan andra irritera sig på skärmens reflekterande yta och potentiella flimmer. Dessutom kan man kritisera de mediokra högtalarna och RAM-minnet som inte kan utökas, vilket begränsar hur framtidssäker den bärbara datorn är. Allt som allt lyckades Swift 14 ändå få det övergripande betyget "bra". Konkurrenter inkluderar äldre enheter baserade på Meteor Lake eller bärbara datorer med en iGPU från AMD (till exempel Radeon 780M).

Som redan nämnts är vår testvariant utrustad med en Core Ultra 5 226V och 16 GB integrerat LPDDR5X-8533 RAM-minne. Acer har endast installerat en 512 GB SSD som masslagring i den bärbara datorn, vilket för ett pris på över 1 000 dollar inte är helt i takt med tiden (vi förväntar oss uppåt 1 TB nuförtiden). En glänsande OLED-panel med 90 Hz tar hand om bildåtergivningen, som har HDR-stöd och en upplösning på 2 880 x 1 800 pixlar - ganska generöst för en 14-tums enhet. Paketet avrundas med Windows 11 Home som operativsystem.

Fallet

Swift 14 finns i två färgställningar, nämligen Steel Gray och Steam Blue, varigenom den senare också verkar ganska grå. När det gäller kvalitet kan Acer-enheten definitivt hålla jämna steg med tävlingen. Dess byggkvalitet och material är helt motiverade med tanke på dess pris. Till detta kommer dess stora stabilitet. Som med de flesta av konkurrenternas enheter ger dess fall bara lite i mittområdet med tryck. Öppningsvinkeln är berömvärd: 180° är inte alltid en självklarhet. Samtidigt gör den bärbara datorns gångjärn ett hyfsat jobb. Du kan enkelt öppna den med en hand och den vickar inte alltför mycket vid vibrationer som kommer från undersidan av enheten.

Acer har utrustat den bärbara 14-tumsdatorn med två USB-C Type-4.0-portar, som kompletteras av två klassiska USB-A 3.0-portar. Användare har också tillgång till en HDMI 2.1-utgång och en kombinerad ljudport. Eftersom alla portar är placerade på baksidan av sidopanelerna kan du använda en mus utan några begränsningar.

Kommunikation

Swift 14 innehåller ett toppmodernt Wi-Fi 7-chip, nämligen Killer BE1750i. Modulen presterade bra till mycket bra under vårt Wi-Fi-test, som utfördes på ett avstånd av en meter från referensroutern, och slogs bara av Asus ZenBook S 14 vid sändning.

Webbkamera

I motsats till de flesta tillverkare har Acer inte nöjt sig med en HD- eller Full HD-webbkamera, utan har istället valt en QHD-modell. Underhåll

Även efter att ha lossat de 10 Torx-skruvarna är botten av höljet fortfarande så hårt att du måste använda mycket kraft eller rätt spakverktyg för att komma åt den bärbara datorns inre. Bortsett från WLAN-chipet, M.2 SSD och batteriet finns det ändå inte mycket du kan byta ut på Swift 14.

Acer har huvudsakligen använt kartong för förpackningen av den bärbara datorn. Enheten levereras i en tygpåse och strömförsörjningsenheten i en plasthylsa (material markerade i varje enskilt fall).

Tangentbord

Tangentbordet bör vara tillräckligt för de flesta köpare. Även om det inte känns som det absolut bästa att skriva på, så har det inga större brister eller svagheter. Om något skulle Acer kunna förbättra sin layout (strömknappen är inte placerad separat) eller de ynkliga riktningspilarna i mitten. Den vita bakgrundsbelysningen har två inställningar för ljusstyrka.

Pekplatta

En ganska smidig klickplatta fungerar som ersättning för en mus som med sina 12,6 x 7,8 cm är relativt stor för en 14-tums enhet. De multi-touch-gester som stöds fungerar utan problem. Vi noterade inte heller några avvikelser när det gäller precision. Acer skulle bara kunna förbättra sitt klickbeteende, eftersom det saknas tydlig feedback, särskilt i det nedre vänstra hörnet.

Display

OLED-fans får definitivt valuta för pengarna när det gäller Swift 14. Med en genomsnittlig ljusstyrka på strax under 500 cd/m² tar 14-tumsskärmen topplaceringen bland jämförelseenheterna (konkurrenterna tenderar att ligga närmare 400 cd/m²).

I övrigt behöver 90 Hz-skärmen inte utsättas för någon kritik. Förutom den förstklassiga svartnivån, som resulterar i utmärkta kontrastvärden, är skärmens betraktningsvinklar och svarstider lika imponerande. Dess färgrymdstäckning är också klart överlägsen en typisk IPS-panel, eftersom både DCI-P3 och AdobeRGB täcks nästan helt.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . The frequency of 60 Hz is very low, so the flickering may cause eyestrain and headaches after extended use.

As the flickering occurs only on very low brightness settings, it should not be an issue in typical office settings. Nonetheless, use in low light conditions may be straining to the eyes.

In comparison: 53 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 8702 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 343500) Hz was measured.

Prestanda

Swift 14 levererar prestanda i det lägre mellansegmentet. 16 GB RAM kan redan vara på gränsen för vissa användare, så det är värt att köpa den dyrare modellen med 32 GB RAM, som också har en snabbare CPU och iGPU (Core Ultra 7 258V med Arc Graphics 140V) och en SSD som är dubbelt så stor (1 TB istället för 512 GB). Processor

Core Ultra 5 Core Ultra 5 226V och Core Ultra 7 258V är inte så olika på CPU-sidan som modellnamnen kan antyda vid första anblicken. Båda processorerna har 8 kärnor och - eftersom Intel har tagit bort hyper-threading från Lunar Lake - "bara" 8 trådar. Dess TDP är maximalt 37 watt och tillverkningsprocessen är 3 nm. 226V måste göra eftergifter i sin L3-cache (8 vs. 12 MB) och klockfrekvens (2,1-4,5 vs. 2,2-4,8 GHz).

Om du jämför CPU-resultaten med ZenBook S 14presterade Swift 14 dock ganska bra (eller Asus bärbara dator ganska dåligt). I Cinebench-slingan kom Acer-enheten till och med något framåt tack vare sin mer stabila prestanda på lång sikt. 226V hade dock ingen chans mot de gamla Meteor Lake-chipen Core Ultra 5 125H och Core Ultra 7 155H. Ändå tenderade den senare också att köra med en högre TDP. AMD:s Ryzen AI 9 HX 375som också är mer energihungrig, drog bort ännu mer (se betygstabell).

Systemets prestanda

På papperet levererar Ultra 5 226V mer än solida systemprestanda. Över 6 400 poäng i PCMark 10 är verkligen imponerande. I praktiken är dock systemet inte riktigt lika smidigt på vissa ställen som man kan förvänta sig av enheter i den här prestandan och prisklassen. Vi hade redan den här känslan med andra bärbara datorer utrustade med Lunar Lake-chips. Intel kan behöva hjälpa till här med drivrutins- och BIOS-optimeringar.

Lagringsenhet

Det finns ljus och skugga när det gäller den bärbara datorns masslagring. 512 GB SSD från Micron (modell 2550) erbjuder en ganska bra läshastighet, men dess skrivprestanda kunde vara mycket bättre. Arc Graphics Arc Graphics 130V iGPU som är installerad i Ultra 5 226V måste acceptera några mindre minskningar jämfört med Arc Graphics 140V. 130V har bara 7 istället för 8 Xe²-kärnor och en maximal klockfrekvens på 1 850 istället för 2 050 MHz. När det gäller Swift 14 kunde dess GPU-prestanda tyvärr inte sticka ut från de tidigare chipen. Både Arc 7 och Arc 8 var snabbare på konkurrerande enheter. AMD: s nuvarande topp iGPU, den Radeon 890Mvar också före igen.

Prestanda för spel

Situationen var liknande under våra praktiska speltester, där Arc 130V åtminstone överträffade Arc 7 något. Generellt sett är iGPU:n tillräckligt snabb för att köra äldre eller mindre krävande spel ordentligt, åtminstone i Full HD. Men 130V tappar snart andan med aktuella eller intensivt grafiskt krävande spel. I vilket fall som helst är skärmens inbyggda upplösning på 2 880 x 1 800 ouppnåelig när det gäller bildfrekvens när de flesta spel körs.

Även om Swift 14 är tjockare än den konkurrerande ZenBook S 14, är Acers bärbara dator hörbart mer märkbar både i viloläge och under belastning. Normalprofilen producerar 40 till 41 dB(A) i 3D-applikationer, vilket inte är särskilt högt, men det är inte lågt med tanke på den prestanda den levererar. Under tomgångsfaser stängs chassifläkten delvis av, men tenderar att varva upp på vissa ställen under ganska enkla uppgifter som att surfa på webben och spela upp filmer - många andra bärbara datorer skickar sina hälsningar - vilket kan vara något irriterande för vissa användare.

Temperatur

Temperaturutvecklingen för den bärbara datorn från Acer visade sig vara ganska ospektakulär. Maximalt 41 °C på ovansidan och maximalt 45 °C på baksidan är typiskt för en enhet av denna typ under belastning. Stresstest

Under våra stresstester med Cyberpunk 2077 eller Furmark och Prime95 värmdes Core Ultra 5 226V upp till cirka 60 °C - ett extremt måttligt resultat. Även om det inte fanns någon strypning i Cyberpunk, stryptes processorn under sitt basvärde under full belastning. Det senare beteendet förekommer dock i många bärbara datorer.

Högtalare

Vi blev något besvikna på ljudkvaliteten, eftersom det fortfarande finns mycket potential i detta avseende. Även om en maximal volym på 84 dB(A) är ganska bra, återges inte mellantoner och särskilt inte låga toner särskilt rent eller kraftfullt enligt vår ljudanalys.

Körtider

Det är därför knappast förvånande att Swift 14 levererar mycket bra batteritider. I vårt Wi-Fi-test (åtkomst till olika webbplatser via ett skript) med ljusstyrkan reducerad till 150 cd/m², räckte 65 Wh-batteriet i knappt 12,5 timmar. Inom vårt jämförelseområde slogs detta värde endast av ZenBook S 14 (72 Wh).
