Debut för Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 prestanda: HP OmniBook Ultra 14 recension av bärbar dator

För strax över tusenlappen erbjuder OmniBook Ultra 14 enorma prestandavinster jämfört med andra subnotebooks i samma prisklass. Vissa nedskärningar har gjorts på skärmen, men det är inget som de flesta användare inte kan leva med.

Tillkomsten av processorer med AI-acceleration har uppmuntrat HP att lansera ännu en modellserie vid sidan av Spectre- och Envy-familjerna. Serien kallas OmniBook och består av Co-Pilot+-kompatibla maskiner som hittills har Qualcomm Snapdragon- och AMD Zen 5-processorer. Modeller som är tillgängliga för tillfället inkluderar OmniBook X 14, OmniBook Ultra 14 clamshell och OmniBook Ultra Flip 14.

Vår testenhet idag är OmniBook Ultra 14 clamshell med Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 CPU, 32 GB LPDDR5x-7500 RAM och 1600p IPS-skärm för cirka $1050 USD i detaljhandeln. Andra SKU: er kan levereras med hälften av RAM-minnet och Ryzen AI 9 365 istället, men samma IPS-pekskärm förblir fast i alla konfigurationer.

Alternativ inkluderar andra övre mellanklass till avancerade 14-tums subnotebooks som Asus Zenbook S 14 UX5406, Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 14 G9eller Dell XPS 14.

Fodral - Spectre Vibes

Korsa en Spectre x360 14 med en EliteBook 1040 och du får OmniBook Ultra 14. Den nya modellen lånar mycket från Spectre-serien, inklusive tangentbordsdäcket, de "diamantskurna" bakre hörnen och tangentbordslayouten, samtidigt som den antar den välkända mörkgrå strukturen och metallmaterialen hos de flesta EliteBook-bärbara datorer. Den har därför mer gemensamt med HP:s avancerade modeller än med något billigare eller tjockare som Pavilion - respektive Envy-serien.

Chassits styvhet är utmärkt med minimalt knakande och skevhet när man försöker vrida systemet eller trycka på dess ytor. dess svagaste aspekt är gångjärnet som tenderar att vackla när man justerar vinklar. Det känns också svagare när det öppnas till bredare vinklar.

Systemet väger ungefär lika mycket som Spectre x360 14 men har ett något större fotavtryck. Den längre dimensionen kan tillskrivas de större ramarna ovanför och under skärmen.

Observera att XPS 14 är märkbart tyngre eftersom den har diskreta GPU-alternativ.

Anslutningsmöjligheter - AMD nu officiellt med Thunderbolt 4

Portalternativen är begränsade till samma som på Spectre x360 14, på gott och ont. Alternativ som XPS 14 eller Yoga Pro 7 14 G9 har fler USB-C-portar respektive integrerad HDMI, men vi kan fortfarande uppskatta den integrerade USB-A-porten på OmniBook eftersom den blir alltmer ovanlig på subnotebooks.

Portplaceringen kunde ha varit bättre. Särskilt de två USB-C-portarna sitter båda på samma sida av systemet, vilket innebär att laddnings- och dockningsstationer måste anslutas på samma sida av den bärbara datorn. I jämförelse är Razer Blade 14 och XPS 14 har USB-C-portar på båda sidor av sina respektive konstruktioner för mer frihet och bekvämlighet.

Kommunikation

Webbkamera

HP integrerar några av de högsta megapixel-webbkamerorna på många av sina bärbara datorer. Webbkameran på 9 MP här är av högre kvalitet än på de flesta konkurrenter, men detta sker på bekostnad av en tjockare övre ram som nämnts ovan. Både IR och en fysisk slutare är standard.

Underhåll

Bottenpanelen sitter fast med endast fyra Torx-skruvar för enklare service. Ett plastkort eller en hård kant rekommenderas för att lossa kanterna på botten eftersom de sitter fast ordentligt i basen.

Internt skiljer sig OmniBook Ultra 14 mycket från Spectre x360 14 trots att de har många yttre likheter. Kylningslösningen, till exempel, är nu symmetrisk för att vara mer i linje med de flesta andra avancerade subnotebooks. De uppgraderingsbara alternativen är dock fortfarande desamma, inklusive den enda M.2 2280 SSD-platsen, den löstagbara M.2 WLAN-modulen och det lödda RAM-minnet.

Hållbarhet

En hög andel av de material som används för att tillverka OmniBook Ultra 14 kommer från återvunna källor efter konsumtion och industri, inklusive upp till 50 procent plast för tangentlocken och saxen, 45 procent plast för ramen och högtalarna, 85 procent metall för ytterhöljet och tangentbordet och 50 procent metall för bottenhöljet.

Den plastfria förpackningen är tillverkad av 100 procent hållbart anskaffade material.

Det finns inga extra tillbehör i lådan utöver den vanliga nätadaptern och pappersarbetet. Den vanliga ettåriga begränsade tillverkargarantin gäller om den köps i USA.

Inmatningsenheter - bekant erfarenhet

Tangentbord

Att skriva på OmniBook Ultra 14 känns väldigt likt att skriva på Spectre x360 14 eftersom de delar samma layout med liknande tangenter. Detta är inte nödvändigtvis en dålig sak eftersom tangentborden på avancerade HP-modeller som Spectre eller EliteBook tenderar att vara mer klickvänliga och med skarpare feedback än de flesta andra subnotebooks för en mer tillfredsställande skrivupplevelse. Vi uppskattar att HP erbjuder något bekant snarare än något udda som med den splittrade XPS 14 tangentbord.

Några negativa saker med tangentbordet är de trånga piltangenterna och avsaknaden av en programmerbar tangent som vissa EliteBooks har.

Pekplatta

Klickplattan är något mindre än på den konkurrerande Yoga Pro 7 14 G9 (12,5 x 8 cm jämfört med 13,5 x 8 cm). Den är ändå rymlig för skärmstorleken med en något klickigare och fastare feedback än förväntat.

Display - Endast 60 Hz IPS

Intressant nog levereras OmniBook Ultra 14 med en IPS-skärm medan de flesta andra 14-tums subnotebooks i den här prisklassen levereras med OLED som standard. Även den Snapdragon-drivna OmniBook X 14 levereras med OLED vilket gör att den AMD-drivna OmniBook Ultra 14 sticker ut som en öm tumme på grund av dess brist på P3-färger, ultradjupa svartnivåer och alternativ för hög uppdateringsfrekvens. Dessa nackdelar representerar en mellanklasspanel på en annars avancerad HP-maskin.

Det enda trumfkortet som talar till OmniBook Ultra 14-skärmens fördel är kanske dess stöd för FreeSync. Spel är därför smidigare på systemet jämfört med andra subnotebooks där FreeSync-stöd är relativt ovanligt.

Skärmen är redan välkalibrerad när den levereras med genomsnittliga deltaE-värden för gråskala och färg på bara 2,6 respektive 1,64. Att kalibrera panelen ytterligare med vår X-Rite-kolorimeter skulle förbättra dessa resultat, om än bara marginellt, vilket förmodligen är onödigt för de flesta användare. Display Response Times

Display response times show how fast the screen is able to change from one color to the next. Slow response times can lead to afterimages and can cause moving objects to appear blurry (ghosting). Gamers of fast-paced 3D titles should pay special attention to fast response times.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

In comparison: 53 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 8705 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 343500) Hz was measured.

Sikten utomhus är hyfsad men inte lika bra som på Yoga Pro 7 14ASP G9 eller Galaxy Book4 Edge 14 på grund av deras ljusare OLED-paneler. Bländning är alltid närvarande och märkbar och därför bör direkt solljus undvikas för att bibehålla färgerna. Det är synd att skärmen inte kan vara mer ljusstark eftersom systemet annars är ganska lätt och bärbart.

Testförhållanden

Vi ställde in både Windows och MyHP i prestandaläge innan vi körde nedanstående benchmarks. Vi rekommenderar starkt att ägarna bekantar sig med MyHP:s energiprofiler eftersom det finns fler inställningar än vanligt jämfört med andra bärbara datorer, inklusive Smart Sense, Balanserad, Cool, Tyst, Prestanda och Strömsparare. Varje HP-strömsparprofil har olika syften:

  • Smart Sense: Anpassar automatiskt systemet till dina behov med optimerad prestanda, fläktljud och temperatur baserat på applikation, placering av den bärbara datorn och batteristatus
  • Balanserad: Balanserar fläkthastigheter, prestanda och temperatur
  • Sval: Ökar fläktljudet och minskar prestandan för svalare yttemperaturer
  • Tyst: Minskar fläktljudet och försämrar prestandan för ljudkänsliga miljöer
  • Prestanda: Ökar taket för fläktljud
  • Strömsparare: Minskar prestandan. Endast tillgänglig med batteridrift

Processor

Den nya Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 kommer med två fler kärnor än den mindre Ryzen AI 9 HX 365 för en ungefärlig 15-procentig ökning av flertrådsprestanda enligt syntetiska riktmärken. Ryzen AI 9 365 kan redan överträffa vanliga alternativ som Core i7-13700H och därför är det imponerande att se att Ryzen AI 9 375 fortfarande kan erbjuda en anständig ökning. Detta är i motsats till Ryzen 7 8845HS som erbjöd små eller inga fördelar jämfört med Ryzen 7 7840HS som den direkt ersätter.

Jämfört med andra 14-tums subnotebooks som finns på marknaden är OmniBook 14 Ultra en av de snabbaste, tack vare AMD Zen 5-processorn. Fördelarna är särskilt stora för dem som kanske uppgraderar från en CPU i U-serien eller till och med en Meteor Lake-H-plattform som Core Ultra 7 155H. Prestandahållbarheten är också förvånansvärt stabil med tanke på den tunna formfaktorn; poängen sjunker med bara några få procentenheter när man kör CineBench R15 xT i en loop, vilket visas i vår graf nedan.

Vår Zen 5-processor är kompatibel med Co-Pilot+ till skillnad från processorerna i Zen 4 Hawk Point-serien.

GPU-prestanda

Radeon 890M Radeon 890M ger en större ökning av grafikprestanda jämfört med Radeon 780M jämfört med hoppet från Radeon 680M till 780M. Den största ökningen kommer i DX12-titlar där 890M kan vara mellan 30 och 40 procent snabbare än den utgående 780M enligt 3DMark benchmarks. DX11-titlar förväntas annars få en mindre ökning på bara 10 till 20 procent.

De konkurrerande Intel Arc 8 släpar efter Radeon 890M med upp till 15 procent medan den nyare Arc Graphics 140V kan ligga jämsides med den nya AMD-lösningen baserat på syntetiska riktmärken. Under själva spelandet gynnas dock prestandan fortfarande av vår Radeon 890M på grund av vår Ryzen 9-processor, vilket nästa avsnitt nedan kommer att visa.

Att köra i Smart Sense- eller Balanced-läge kan påverka prestandan med upp till 10 procent enligt vår Fire Strike resultattabell ovan. När du spelar kan dock underskottet vara mer uttalat. Att köra Baldur's Gate 3 och Tiny Tina's Wonderlands på 1080p Ultra-inställningar skulle i genomsnitt ge 31 respektive 34 FPS, jämfört med bara 25 och 28 FPS i Smart Sense- eller Balanced-lägen.

Prestanda för spel

Medan Radeon 890M ligger ganska nära de konkurrerande Arc 8 och Arc 140V när det gäller 3DMark-resultat, är motsatsen sann när man kör riktiga spel eftersom Radeon 890M konsekvent kan överträffa båda Intel-lösningarna, ibland med stora marginaler. Final Fantasy XV och Baldur's Gate 3, till exempel, körs var och en upp till 35 procent snabbare på vår OmniBook än på Zenbook S 14 UX5406 eller Spectre x360 14. Delta är mindre i vissa titlar som Cyberpunk 2077, men de gynnar fortfarande AMD GPU med upp till 10 procent innan de redovisar någon uppskalning eller ramgenereringsteknik.

Det är värt att nämna att DOTA 2 Reborn skulle köras med fel när det var på High- eller Ultra-inställningar och så dessa specifika resultat ingår inte i data för vår maskin. Konstigt nog skulle spelet annars köras utan problem på Radeon 880M.

Idling på Cyberpunk 2077 skulle visa enstaka men periodiska nedgångar i prestanda för att föreslå att drivrutinerna fortfarande kan förbättras för Radeon 890M. Systembuller

De dubbla interna fläktarna ligger i allmänhet runt 32 dB(A) mot en tyst bakgrund på 23,8 dB(A) vid multitasking mellan webbläsarflikar eller videostreaming. Även om det inte är ohörbart är systemet fortfarande tillräckligt tyst och utan något pulserande beteende för att vara acceptabelt.

Fläktens ljudnivå ändras avsevärt beroende på strömprofilen. Om du kör Cyberpunk 2077 i Performance-läge, till exempel, kommer fläktljudet att toppa på nästan 41 dB(A) jämfört med bara 35,4 dB(A) i Balanced-läge eller Smart Sense-läge. Naturligtvis kommer de tystare fläktarna på bekostnad av långsammare prestanda som nämnts i vårt GPU-prestandaavsnitt ovan. Det låga 40 dB(A)-intervallet är ändå högre än vissa 14-tums subnotebooks som Zenbook S 14 UX5406 samtidigt som den är jämförbar med Yoga Pro 7 14ASP G9.

Temperatur

Utvecklingen av yttemperaturen är symmetrisk för att återspegla den symmetriska kyllösningen inuti. Hot spots på tangentbordets mitt kan nå strax över 41 C när du kör spel eller andra krävande belastningar för att i genomsnitt vara svalare än Spectre x360 14 under liknande förhållanden. Den konkurrerande Yoga Pro 7 14 G9som också körs på en liknande Zen 5-plattform, skulle nå liknande maximala yttemperaturer som vår Omnibook, om än med större heta punkter.

Rent praktiskt tyckte vi aldrig att Omnibook kändes obekväm på huden under vardagliga scenarier.

Jämfört med IdeaPad Pro 5 14 som körs på Zen 4 Ryzen 7 8845HS, förbrukar vår HP mindre ström under belastning för att vara både snabbare och effektivare för bättre prestanda per watt. Att köra Prime95 på HP skulle till exempel kräva cirka 68 W eller 8 W mindre än på Lenovo, trots att Ryzen 8845HS är cirka 25 till 30 procent långsammare än vår Ryzen 9 AI 375.

Jämförelser mot Zenbook S 14 UX5406 och dess nya Arc 140V är också intressanta. Förbrukningen är mycket högre på vår HP eftersom Ryzen 9 AI 375 har ett högre effekttak än Core Ultra 7 258V, men prestandaskillnaderna vid spel kan ibland vara jämförelsevis minimala trots de enorma förbrukningsskillnaderna. Att köra Cyberpunk 2077 på 1080p Ultra-inställningar kräver till exempel bara 33 W på Asus jämfört med 67 W på vår HP, trots att spelet bara går 10 procent snabbare på HP.

Vi kan registrera ett maximalt uttag på 69 W från den lilla (~ 9,8 x 5,4 x 2 cm) 65 W USB-C AC-adaptern när processorn utnyttjas till 100 procent eller när vi kör spel. Eftersom systemet kan upprätthålla denna hastighet under stress, förvänta dig att laddningshastigheterna stannar om du kör tunga belastningar samtidigt.

Batterikapaciteten är densamma som på OLED Spectre x360 14 på 68 Wh. WLAN-körtiden är dock något längre på vår Omnibook med cirka två timmar för en sluträkning på drygt 11 timmar, delvis på grund av vår mindre krävande IPS-skärm. Systemet håller inte riktigt lika länge som Zenbook S 14 UX5406, men det håller fortfarande längre än de flesta andra 14-tumsmodeller.

Att ladda från tom till full kapacitet tar cirka 100 minuter, vilket är genomsnittligt för kategorin.

Höjdpunkten i OmniBook Ultra 14 är utan tvekan dess Zen 5-processor. Prestandan den erbjuder är galen i förhållande till prispunkten på 1000 dollar och den lilla 14-tumsformfaktorn. HP marknadsför inte OmniBook Ultra 14 som en av de snabbaste 14-tums subnotebooks på marknaden, men det borde de kanske göra eftersom det är svårt att hitta något snabbare utan att ta till tyngre modeller med diskreta GPU:er som XPS 14. Resultaten här är spännande att se, särskilt eftersom Hawk Point utan tvekan var en besvikelse.

Den imponerande prestandan kommer till den förväntade kostnaden av högre kärntemperaturer och mer högljudda fläktar jämfört med långsammare 14-tums subnotebooks. Du kan naturligtvis alltid köra i balanserat läge istället för att få en svalare maskin om den extra prestandan skulle vara överflödig.

OmniBook Ultra 14 är en riktig bjässe till subnotebook tack vare Ryzen 9 Zen 5-processorn. Om du behöver P3-färgerna eller högre upplösningar måste du dock fortfarande överväga den dyrare Spectre-serien.

När det gäller aspekter utöver processorn är systemet i huvudsak en "Spectre 14" utan 360-graders gångjärn eller bred P3-gamut. Det är en lyxliknande lösning till ett rimligt pris. Användare som inte behöver all den prestandan kan hitta lättare alternativ som LG Gram 14 eller Asus Zenbook S 14 UX5406 att vara mer önskvärda.

Pris och tillgänglighet

HP levererar nu sin OmniBook Ultra 14 med Ryzen AI 9 365, 16 GB RAM och 1 TB SSD för $1030 USD. Att uppgradera till Ryzen AI 9 375 och fördubbla RAM-minnet kostar ytterligare 300 till 400 USD.
