Det har gått tre år sedan vi senast granskade 14-tums Elite x360 1040 2-i-1-serien och mycket har förändrats sedan dess. Den senaste Elite x360 1040 2-in-1 G11-modellen (eller (eller EliteBook x360 1040 2-in-1 G11) innehåller Meteor Lake-processorer för att vara AI-redo och en ny 16:10-formfaktor för att ersätta den åldrande 16:9-designen.

Vår enhet i recensionen har konfigurerats med den mest avancerade Core Ultra 7 165H-processorn och den lägsta 1200p 60 Hz IPS-pekskärmen för cirka $ 1600 i detaljhandeln. Andra konfigurationer börjar med Core Ultra 5 135U upp till en 1800p 120 Hz OLED-pekskärm för över $2300. Det finns annars inga diskreta grafikalternativ i hela sortimentet.

Konkurrenter i detta utrymme inkluderar andra flaggskeppskonvertibler för företag som Lenovo ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 G9, Dell Latitude 9450 2-i-1eller Asus ExpertBook B3 Flip. En clamshell-version av denna modell finns också tillgänglig utan 360-graders gångjärn, helt enkelt kallad EliteBook 1040 G11.

Fodral - Elegant och elegant

Chassiintryck kan bäst beskrivas som en Spectre x360 men utan de skarpa kanterna eller iögonfallande färgerna. Den diskreta enfärgade tonen är mycket avsiktlig för att bättre smälta in i professionella miljöer. Styvheten är utmärkt med endast mindre vridning och böjning och inget anmärkningsvärt knakande trots den tunna och lätta profilen.

Medan Elite-modeller alltid har varit matt silver eller ljusgrå i färgen, är Elite x360 1040 G11 en vitare ton än vanligt kallad Glacier Silver utformad för att minska uppbyggnaden av fingeravtryck. Det fungerar bra i detta avseende, särskilt jämfört med den mörkare ThinkPad-serien som älskar fingeravtryck, men den största nackdelen är att repor tenderar att vara mer synliga på den vitare HP.

Övergången från 16:9 på den äldre G7-designen till 16:10 på vår nya G11-design innebär en något tyngre vikt och ett mer kvadratiskt fotavtryck. I gengäld är G11 lite tunnare än den äldre designen och de flesta andra 14-tums konvertibler för den delen.

Konnektivitet - lite av varje

Det finns fler integrerade portar på vår HP än på konkurrenter som ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 G9 eller Latitude 9450 2-i-1 varav den sistnämnda saknar både USB-A och HDMI. Webbkamera

Webbkameran på 5 MP var över genomsnittet för bara några år sedan, men vissa tillverkare har kommit ikapp med alternativ med ännu högre upplösning. Den nya ExpertBook B3 Flip och ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 G9, till exempel, levereras med 13 MP respektive 8 MP webbkameror. Samtidigt levereras många Dell-modeller som Latitude 9450 2-i-1 fortfarande med suddigare webbkameror på 2 MP.

Hållbarhet

HP använder återvunna fiskenät med låg halogenhalt för att tillverka tangentbordet, 30 procent plast från havet för att tillverka högtalarna och 100 procent hållbart producerad förpackning som också är helt återvinningsbar. Clamshell-versionen av denna modell (EliteBook 1040 G11) använder också 90 procent återvunnet magnesium och 21 procent återvunnen matolja.

Tillbehör och garanti

I förpackningen ingår en aktiv styluspenna som komplement till nätadaptern och pappersarbetet. En treårig tillverkargaranti ingår som standard om den köps i USA, precis som för de flesta ZBook-modeller.

Tangentbord

Det spilltåliga tangentbordet erbjuder fastare feedback och djupare rörelse än tangenterna på de flesta vanliga bärbara konsumentdatorer som Dell XPSlenovo ThinkBook eller Yoga, eller HP Pavilion -serien. Kladdandet är dock högre och mer märkbart på HP Elite-tangentbordet, vilket kanske är priset man får betala för en mer tillfredsställande skrivupplevelse.

Layouten har förändrats jämfört med den utgående designen. Den högra kolumnen med dedikerade hjälptangenter som inkluderade Home, End, PgUp och PgDn har tagits bort och fått en ny design, på gott och ont.

Pekplatta

Klickplattan är större än den på 2021 G7-design (12 x 8,5 vs. 11,5 x 7 cm) för en rymligare upplevelse i förhållande till 14-tums skärmstorleken. Glidningen är mycket smidig med nästan inget fastnande medan återkopplingen när du klickar är förvånansvärt skarp men ändå relativt tyst. Det här är en av de bättre clickpads vi har använt på en subnotebook utan att behöva använda dedikerade musknappar som på ThinkPad X13.

Observera att det inte finns några paneler som erbjuder mer än sRGB, medan de extra ljusstarka alternativen 800 nits och 1000 nits är låsta till Sure View. Både uppdateringsfrekvenser och upplösning når också max vid endast 60 Hz respektive 1200p, såvida de inte är konfigurerade med OLED.

Vår Chi Mei-panel visar liknande attribut som BOE-panelen på den tre år gamla EliteBook x360 1040 G7 på gott och ont. Även om det inte finns något särskilt hemskt, kvarstår de långsamma svarstiderna och Chi Mei-panelen saknar överlag nyare IPS-paneler som erbjuder bredare färger, högre upplösningar, Windows VRR eller till och med HDR. Endast den mest avancerade OLED-konfigurationen erbjuder några av dessa funktioner.

Display response times show how fast the screen is able to change from one color to the next. Slow response times can lead to afterimages and can cause moving objects to appear blurry (ghosting). Gamers of fast-paced 3D titles should pay special attention to fast response times.

This means that the measured response time is worse than the average of all tested devices (33.1 ms).

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

In comparison: 53 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 17271 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 3846000) Hz was measured.

Sikten utomhus är hyfsad i skugga eftersom den matta panelen reducerar reflexer ganska bra. Den är dock fortfarande inte tillräckligt ljusstark för att klara ljusare omgivningsförhållanden, än mindre direkt solljus. Användare kanske vill överväga alternativen 800-nit eller 1000-nit om synlighet utomhus är en prioritet.

Vi ställde in Windows och MyHP i prestandaläge innan vi körde nedanstående benchmarks.

Processor

CPU-prestandan är mycket snabb i förhållande till den lilla formfaktorn. Skillnaden är enorm jämfört med Core i7-10810U i den tre år gamla EliteBook x360 141040 G7 och vår Core Ultra 7 165H till och med konsekvent överträffar Core Ultra 9 185H i den senaste Asus Zenbook Duo OLED. Trots detta är Turbo Boost-prestandan begränsad, vilket demonstreras nedan av den nästan omedelbara prestandaförlusten på 22 procent när CineBench R15 xT körs i en loop. En starkare kyllösning skulle sannolikt ha pressat ut ännu mer prestanda ur samma Core Ultra 7-processor som ett resultat av detta.

Nedgradering till icke-vPro Core Ultra 7 155H förväntas inte påverka prestandan på något betydande sätt, medan nedgradering till Core Ultra 5 125H eller Core Ultra 5 135U förväntas minska prestandan för flera trådar med cirka 15 procent respektive 35 procent.

När Prime95 körs i prestandaläge ökar processorn till 3,4 GHz (effektiv klockfrekvens) och 66 W under bara några sekunder, samtidigt som kärntemperaturen skjuter i höjden till så varmt som 106 C. Den sjunker sedan snabbt till så lågt som 1,9 till 2 GHz och 40 W för att hålla kärntemperaturen i mitten av 90 C-området. Detta är dock fortfarande extremt varmt, särskilt jämfört med Core Ultra 7 165U i Latitude 9450 2-in-1 som skulle stabiliseras vid bara 76 C under liknande testförhållanden. Det är tydligt att Core Ultra 7 165H i HP verkligen skulle ha kunnat dra nytta av en större eller mer effektiv kylningslösning.

Att köra Prime95 i Smart Sense-läge istället för Performance-läge skulle minska klockfrekvensen och paketets effektuttag till så lågt som 1 GHz respektive 22 W, vilket visas av skärmdumparna nedan. I gengäld blir fläktljudet märkbart tystare och kärntemperaturen sjunker till bara 73 C.

Kärntemperaturen när du kör krävande belastningar som Cyberpunk 2077 i prestandaläget förblir mycket hög på 95 C. Även Framework bärbar dator 13.5 med liknande Core Ultra-H-alternativ skulle stabiliseras vid lägre temperaturer och vi anser redan att det systemet är varmare än genomsnittet.

Systemets prestanda

PCMark-poängen är bland de högsta för en 14-tums konvertibel för affärsbruk med integrerad grafik. Detta kan till största delen tillskrivas vår Core-H-processor eftersom de flesta konkurrenter i den här storlekskategorin istället har långsammare Core-U-processorer. GPU-prestanda

Bågen Arc 8 är den snabbaste integrerade grafiklösningen hittills från Intel eftersom den ger enorma fördelar jämfört med Iris Xe eller den gamla UHD 620 serien. Det är dock mer eller mindre i nivå med den konkurrerande Radeon 780M som har varit allmänt tillgänglig sedan slutet av förra året. Observera att nedgraderingen till Core Ultra 5-H också nedgraderar GPU:n från Arc 8 till Arc 7men prestandaförlusten förväntas bara vara 5 procent baserat på vår tid med Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 14IMH9.

Utsläpp - tyst för det mesta

Systembuller

Kylningslösningen är ganska liten, särskilt med tanke på det korta värmeledningsröret. Enligt HP kan den kortare heatpipen leda bort värmen snabbare från processorn än en längre heatpipe. Detta sker naturligtvis till priset av minskad effektivitet, eftersom en mindre och lättare kylningslösning inte kyler lika bra som en större. De höga kärntemperaturerna som nämnts ovan är en konsekvens av detta tillvägagångssätt.

Oavsett vilket är systemet i allmänhet tyst när man kör krävande belastningar som webbläsare eller videor eftersom fläktarna är långsamma vid eventuella RPM-ändringar. Faktum är att det är en av de tystare subnotebook-datorerna när man kör låga till medelhöga belastningar.

Taket för fläktljud skiljer sig mellan Smart Sense (även kallat Balanserad) och Performance-lägena. Om du ställer in Smart Sense kommer fläktljudet att toppa på bara 38 dB(A) när du kör Cyberpunk 2077 jämfört med 45,7 dB(A) i Performance-läget. Som väntat innebär detta en kostnad för processorns prestanda, vilket framgår av avsnittet om stresstest ovan. Maximalt fläktljud när du kör krävande belastningar under långa perioder är faktiskt högre än genomsnittet för en 14-tums konvertibel.

Yttemperaturerna är varmare mot tangentbordets mitt där hot spots kan nå över 38 C när man kör krävande belastningar under långa perioder. Värmen är märkbar när du skriver eller när du hanterar enheten i surfplatteläge, men aldrig till obekväma nivåer. Genomsnittstemperaturerna liknar Latitude 9450 2-in-1 men är svalare än på ThinkPad X1 2-i-1 G9.

Den totala förbrukningen ligger mycket nära vad vi registrerade på 2021-modellen för att visa på förbättringarna i prestanda per watt mellan fyra generationer av Intel-processorer. Till exempel drar gaming cirka 55 W på vår Elite x360 1040 G11 jämfört med 40 W på Elite x360 1040 G7, trots att vår nyare modell ger 4x till 6x högre grafikprestanda.

Vi kan registrera ett maximalt uttag på 66 W från den lilla (~9,7 x 5,3 x 2,2 cm) 65 W USB-C AC-adaptern när processorn utnyttjas till 100 procent. Denna hastighet är endast tillfällig, vilket visas av skärmdumparna nedan på grund av termiska skäl. Observera att höga belastningar som spel redan kräver 55 W från nätadaptern, vilket leder till långsammare laddningshastigheter om man försöker ladda systemet samtidigt. Lyckligtvis erbjuder HP en större 100 W USB-C AC-adapter som tillval för att hantera just detta problem.

Batteritid

Batterikapaciteten är faktiskt mindre än på den tre år gamla EliteBook x360 1040 G7 (68 Wh jämfört med 79 Wh) och i kombination med den mer krävande Core-H-processorn har den totala drifttiden minskat med några timmar. Trots detta är drifttiden fortfarande mycket lång med drygt 16 timmars WLAN-surfning i verkligheten, vilket är längre än både Dragonfly Pro 2023 och ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 G9. Resultaten är faktiskt ganska imponerande för en Core-H-driven bärbar dator.

Laddning från tom till full kapacitet tar cirka 90 minuter, vilket är genomsnittligt för kategorin.

Elite x360 1040 G11 erbjuder både snabbare prestanda och fler anslutningsmöjligheter än ThinkPad X1 2-i-1 G9 eller Latitude 9450 2-i-1. Dess Core Ultra 7-H-processorer och extra ljusa matta pekskärmsalternativ hjälper till att skilja systemet från konkurrerande konvertibla bärbara datorer där glansiga och långsammare Core-U-processorer är mycket vanliga.

Att packa så mycket i en så tunn och lätt formfaktor kommer med vissa nackdelar. Till exempel blir Core Ultra 7-H-processorn mycket varm i vår enhet med ett högre maximalt fläktljud än de flesta andra i den här storleksklassen. CPU- och GPU-prestanda blir lidande som ett resultat jämfört med större bärbara datorer med samma processoralternativ. SSD-enheten stryps på liknande sätt under belastning medan portarna är trånga ganska nära varandra. De sex IPS-skärmalternativen är också lite underväldigande eftersom alla är begränsade till FHD+ och 60 Hz; endast det enda OLED-alternativet erbjuder både högre upplösningar och uppdateringsfrekvenser.

Elite x360 1040 G11 2-i-1 är mycket bra när det gäller mångsidighet och tillgängliga funktioner i förhållande till storleken. Den lilla kylningslösningen har dock lite problem med att hålla jämna steg med de krävande Core-H-processoralternativen.

För de flesta överväger modellens mångsidighet nackdelarna eftersom endast prestandajägare troligen kommer att märka av strypningen. Företagsanvändare kommer fortfarande att uppskatta bärbarheten och alla funktioner som HP-systemet har att erbjuda i förhållande till sin storlek.

HP levererar nu Elite x360 1040 G11 2-i-1 med startpris på $1520 för Core Ultra 5-konfigurationen.
